McCown Valley Park is approximately 3000 acres with several miles of trails that is on Corps of Engineer land. Soil is mostly sandy and is barefoot friendly. Trails are well marked and color-coded. Be sure to stay on the designated trails. DO NOT VENTURE OFF ANY TRAIL. There is a tendency to have boggy areas and you or your animal could get bogged down. The land is leased to a cattle man.

There are 32 hookups ($30/night) with water and electricity. Some are pull-throughs and some are back ins. Pens can be set up at your campsite. There will be designated areas for primitive camping ($15/night) for generators and those without generators if you do not wish to use an electrical site. There are bathrooms with showers and toilets on site. To reserve hook ups or pens, please contact Sylvia Perry.

BE SURE TO WEAR BRIGHT COLORD SHIRTS ON THE RIDE, SINCE THIS IS BOW SEASON FOR DEER HUNTERS.

Saturday night there will be a Halloween Costume Contest! Horses, Dogs, and Humans are all welcome to participate!! This ride will be themed around Halloween Costumes, so feel free to dress up for the ride itself as well! 

General Information and Requirements:

Everyone must show proof of negative Coggins test for the horse you registered to ride.  ALL dogs must be on a leash.  No dogs in the pavilion during meal times.  Pick up your trash.  Do not attach your horse pen to any permanent structure on the property such as fences.  There will be designated areas for generator and non-generator use.

All Junior Riders (age 8 – 18) must wear a helmet at ALL times while horseback. Regardless if on trail or in camp.

Electrical Sites: $30/night. There are 20, 30 & 50 amp hookups available.  Make sure to contact Sylvia, 254-744-1405, if you are wanting a hook up and let her know which AMP hookup you need.  She has rented out sites 66-75 & 76-90.

Primitive Camping: $15/night

Meals: Saturday night will be smoked pork roast provided by the Ride Management Team. Please bring a side to contribute to the meal.

Junior Riders are only responsible for paying the $10 TTCC fee when riding with an adult.

Buddy Riders may no longer register online. You can register by contacting the Ride Secretary via email and request to be put on the Buddy list.  All registered riders not paid in full by 30 days out will be released. We will then take Buddy Riders in order from the waitlist.  You will hear directly from the Ride Secretary with a confirmation letter. If you want a guaranteed spot, please register as Scout and get a scorecard!

Registration opens on the first of the month 90 days prior to ride (7/01/2026).

In the case of a full ride, you can be added to the waitlist by contacting the ride secretary directly.

Each person registering for a ride must have a separate login and password. You cannot register your relative on your login, you must create a separate login with a separate email address and register them separately. The comment section cannot be used for registering another individual.  This is necessary to maintain an accurate count of riders registered for a ride.

All registered riders not paid in full by 30 days prior to the ride will be removed from the registration list and put on the waiting list.

Cancellation policy:  Full refund up to 30 days before the ride.

If Management cancels the ride, you will receive a full refund. 

If you have to cancel, scroll down and click, “cancel my reservation”.  Make certain you contact the ranch host and cancel any reservations you made directly with them for lodging arrangements.

Additional Fees: 

If not a member of TTCC you must purchase a daily membership at $10 per day, or an annual membership for $30 for single person, or $40 for family.  Checks need to be made payable to TTCC.

Directions to ride:

From the North or South: Take I-35 towards Hillsboro. Exit Spur TX 79 West to downtown Hillsboro. Take the first right past the Court House (signal light) on Highway 22 to the town of Whitney (about 18 miles). Turn right on to FM 933. Go about 3 miles. Turn left on FM 1713 and follow the road (about 4 miles) until you come to the entrance of McCown Valley Park. At the park, go straight thru the park gate. Turn left at the intersection and and go to the Equestrian loop (about .25 mile). Turn left into the parking area. From the South: Go to I-35 to Hillsboro. Exit at Hwy 22 West at Hillsboro and follow directions above.
From the West : Take I-20 and turn south on to Hwy 6 South. At Meridian, turn left at the signal light on to Hwy 22. Turn right after passing the courthouse (about 1⁄4 mile) on to Hwy 22 and proceed to Hwy 56 N. Turn left to FM 56. At FM 1713, turn right, cross the bridge and turn right
into McCown Valley Park entrance after the long bridge.
From the East: Go to either Hwy 164 W (thru Mart, TX) or Hwy 7 W (to Marlin). Turn north on Hwy 6 to I-35 North at Waco. Follow I-35 N to Hillsboro and take Hwy 22 exit at Hillsboro. Follow
directions in first part.
