Lost Concho Ride

Location:  Inks Ranch, Llano, TX

Dates:  September 23 – 24, 2023

Ride Managers:   Leah Lynch and Greg Dial

Ride Secretary: Kit Shadrock – [email protected]

Inks Ranch has a history dating back to the original Republic of Texas land grant given in 1837. Within sight of Enchanted Rock, the ranch features terrain ranging from rocky granite uplifts to fertile bottomland along the drainage of both Sandy and Helms Creeks. This is a working cattle and hunting ranch, with Corriente cattle, mouflon sheep, aoudad, and ibex. Trails will likely be shaded much of the day, and will wind past amazing rock formations, through heavy pecan bottoms, and up through peaks with stunning views of the Texas Hill Country. You’ll want to take pictures!

General Information and Requirements:

Everyone must show proof of negative Coggins test for the horse you registered to ride.  All dogs must be on a leash.  No dogs in the pavilion during meal times.  Pick up your trash.  Do not attach your horse pen to any permanent structure on the property, such as fences.  There will be designated areas for generator and non-generator use.

Horses should be shod or booted. Camping will be entirely primitive, with some shade under nearby oak mottes for horse pens. Bring water; there is no water near the camping area, but the ranch owner will come by to fill water buckets or tubs as needed. There is a ranch house about ¾ mile away from the parking area which will serve as ride headquarters.
