Ride Secretary:  Rhonda Fryer

San Angelo State Park is a gem for us in West Texas, offering trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian activities as well as camping. The North Concho campsite and Bald Eagle have a creek running thru it (on wet years) with beautiful tall trees and grass. There is a pavilion with tables for meals and meetings on the North Concho side. At this time of year we may see some beautiful wild flowers. Campsites are big and spacious and there are pens on most electric and primitive sites. Camping around pavilion and Bald Eagle area will require you to bring your own pens.

This year we are offering a T-Shirt for Cactus Two Step. All ordering and payments will be done through the third party website. (https://www.customink.com/g/twc0-00cu-dbcb) Orders must be placed by April 10th.

The 10 Equestrian Electric Sites will be made available via Lottery System to the first riders who are paid in full two weeks after registration is open (by Feb 15th). These sites have been reserved by the ride management team. If you wish to camp around the pavilion, please let Rhonda, the ride Secretary know at the time of registration. We will call this area Pavilion Camping. If you wish to camp in the SASP’s primitive sites, you will need to make those reservations through their website. These sites are further from the Pavilion than some prefer, so keep that in mind, but some do have pens available.

General Information and Requirements:

Everyone must show proof of negative Coggins test for the horse you registered to ride.  All dogs must be on a leash.  No dogs in eating area during Saturday’s catered meal.  Pick up your trash.  Do not attach your horse pen to any permanent structure on the property such as fences.  There will be designated areas for generator and non-generator use.

Keep your eye open on our Ride’s Facebook Page: Cactus Two Step – Texas Trail Challenge Club for updates and pictures as we near the ride.

Meals:  Friday Night, the Ride Management Team will have hotdogs and chili. Please feel free to bring an appatizer, side dish, or dessert to add to the meal. Saturday night, there will be a catered BBQ Dinner for $20/plate. The meal will include: brisket, sausage, sides, dessert and tea. If you were there in 2023, you won’t want to miss out on this meal!

Ranch Fee:$10/Weekend  This is a true ranch fee this year. The park has changed how we are getting charged for facilities usage. There is a flat fee, instead of day use fees for each rider/person on site. In the end this will be easier for all parties, but that being said, each rider needs to pay the ranch fee, even if you have a State Park Pass. Thank you for understanding.

Camping around the pavillion: $5/night

RV HookUPs: $20/night. The 10 Equestrian Electric Sites will be made available via Lottery System to the first 10 riders who are paid in full two weeks after registration is open (by Feb 15th). Names will be drawn out of a hat for these spots. If you wish to be entered in the drawing for the hookups, please indicate on your registration.

Please no ATV or UTV’s are allowed on premises.
