Cactus Two Step

San Angelo State Park is a gem for us in West Texas, offering trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian activities as well as camping. The North Concho campsite and Bald Eagle have a creek running thru it (on wet years) with beautiful tall trees and grass. There is a pavilion with tables for meals and meetings in the North Concho side. At this time of year we may see some scout monarch butterflies . Campsites are big and spacious and there are pens on most electric and primitive sites. Camping around pavilion and Bald Eagle area will require you to bring your own pens.

All hookup and site reservations must be made through the TPWD website. San Angelo State Park. Primitive camping around the North Conch Pavilion does not need to be booked through the website, just let Kit know when you register.

General Information and Requirements:

Please bring a hard copy of your Coggins test to provide to the park (you will not get it back). Feel free to email it to Tiffany Janke ahead of time, and she can print them.

Everyone must show proof of negative Coggins test.  All dogs must be on a leash.  No dogs in the pavilion during meal times.  Wheelbarrows will be provided for your use to pick up manure. Pick up your trash.  Do not attach your horse pen to any permanent structure on the property such as fences.  There will be designated areas for generator and non-generator use.

The park has reduced it’s number of dumpsters, so they are asking riders to pack out all trash. We are trying to figure out a solution for manure, ideally they would like it to go in the dumpster as well and not left behind. So please come prepared to pack out as much of your trash and manure as possible.

Meals:  Catered Brisket meal, with sides and dessert, Saturday night, $15/person

 Ranch Fee:  $10/Weekend  This is a true ranch fee this year. The park has changed how we are getting charged for facilities usage. There is a flat fee, instead of day use fees for each rider/person on site. In the end this will be easier for all parties, but that being said, each rider needs to pay the ranch fee, even if you have a State Park Pass. Thank you for understanding.

New for 2023 – Buddy Riders may no longer register online. You can register by contacting the Ride Manager, Tiffany Janke, via email and request to be put on the Buddy list.  All registered riders not paid in full by 30 days out will be released. We will then take Buddy Riders in order from the waitlist.  You will hear directly from the Ride Secretary with a confirmation letter. If you want a guaranteed spot, please register as Scout and get a scorecard!

Registration opens on the first of the month 90 days prior to ride (07/01/23)

 In the case of a full ride, you can be added to the waitlist by contacting the ride manager, Tiffany Janke directly.

 Each person registering for a ride must have a separate login and password. You cannot register your relative on your login, you must create a separate login with a separate email address and register them separately. The comment section cannot be used for registering another individual.  This is necessary to maintain an accurate count of riders registered for a ride.

Your payment received 30 days prior to the ride secures your reservation.  If your payment is not received 30 days prior to the ride (09/06/23), your name will be moved to the waiting list.

Cancellation policy:

2.5 — Ride-Fee Cancellation Policy (From the rule book)

If you cancel:

2 weeks (14+ days) prior to ride– full refund

1 week (7 days) prior to ride– 50%

Less than 1 week (7 days)– no refund

If  Management cancels  the ride you will receive a full refund. 

If you have to cancel, scroll down and click, “cancel my reservation”.  Make certain you contact the ranch host and cancel any reservations you made directly with them for lodging arrangements.

Additional Fees: 

If not a member of TTCC you must purchase a daily membership at $10 ($20 for 2 days) or a full membership for $30, payable to TTCC.

You are responsible for making your reservations with the San Angelo State Park.  Reservations can also be made by phone (325 -949-4757).

For Primitive Camping in the parking lot of the North Concho Pavilion, there will be a $5/night fee.

Directions to ride:  Coming from Big Spring/Midland Odessa, take Highway 87 South to FM 2288, turn right.  If you are camping at Bald Eagle, turn left at first entrance to park.  If you are camping in North Concho, turn left at second entrance (sign says Equestrian entrance) .  Coming from east or south come thru town and follow signs to Highway 87 North.  Turn left on FM 2288.  Enter either the Bald Eagle or North Concho entrance depends on which campsite you are in.  If you are coming from the west on Highway 67 you will turn left at FM 2288.  Do NOT enter the south entrance, follow 2288 to northside of park and enter into either the North Concho or Bald Eagle entrances. 

 Check in is no earlier than 3pm at the North Concho Pavilion.  All ride meetings and meal on Saturday night will be there. 

 All gates have locks.  The code to locks will be on the TTCC Facebook page and emailed out a day or two before the ride.
